Step 1: Are you connected to the internet?
If you’re having a problem signing into Skype the first thing to check is whether your internet is working. A simple test for this is to open your browser and surf to a few websites like www.skype.com and www.microsoft.com. If websites load quickly, carry on to step 2.
If websites are loading slowly, you might not be on the best network to use Skype. First try closing any software or downloads which might be using up your bandwidth. Second, take a look at this guide for the best network to use with Skype.
If you can’t load any websites at all, your internet connection is probably not working. Check that your device is properly connected to your network and check with your internet service provider whether there are any service faults in your area.
Step 2: Is Skype experiencing any service issues?
If your internet connection is working well, we might be experiencing some service issues. Check the Heartbeat blog to make sure Skype services are running normally.
If there are no service issues reported on Heartbeat, carry on to step 3.
Step 3: Can you get to a point where you’re asked to enter your Skype credentials?
There are some issues such as the blank blue screen which might stop you from even trying to enter your Skype username and password. If you can get to a point where you can enter your credentials, carry on to step 4.

Luckily the Skype Community has a wealth of information and nearly two million users who are waiting to help.
Step 4: Are your username and password correct?
If you’ve only just registered for Skype, please read this guide before you continue.
The first thing to check is whether to use the Skype Name sign-in option or the Microsoft account sign-in option. If your username is formatted like an email address, e.g. Kotor 2 lightsaber questions free. [email protected], then you have a Microsoft account. If your username doesn’t contain a @-symbol, you have a Skype Name.
Once you’re sure which sign-in option to use, try signing in to your account on the Skype website. There are a number of issues which might stop Skype software from connecting that won’t affect you signing in on the website. For that reason, this is a good test to make sure your username and password are working.
If you can’t sign in on the Skype website, try resetting your password. The location to reset your password depends on whether you sign in with a Skype Name or a Microsoft account.
If you have reset your password and still can’t sign in on the Skype website, or you haven’t been able to reset your password, please contact us.
Once you have successfully signed in to the Skype website, carry on to step 5.
Step 5: Check what is stopping the software from connecting
If you’re connected to the internet, Skype services are running as expected, the software is installed properly and you’re using the right credentials, then there are only a few things that could still be stopping you from signing in.

Microsoft today announced a small but significant update to Skype for Web: Guest accounts. If you want to start a Skype conversation with someone quickly and don’t want to sign up for an account, this is for you.
Download clean code a handbook of agile software craftsmanship pdf. Skype for Web beta first arrived in November 2014, and the service launched out of beta in June 2015. This year, Microsoft has added more features and is working on removing the plugin requirement.
Skype for Web made it possible to use the service without first downloading Skype. Now, Skype for Web lets you chat and make voice or video calls without even having an account.
All you have to do is go Skype.com, hit “start a conversation,” and add your name. You will then be given a link that you can share with whomever via email or a social network. Anyone who clicks the link can join using their Skype app, or as a Guest if they’re using Skype for Web. You can invite up to 300 people to chat and up to 25 people on a voice or video call for free.
These conversations are set to last for 24 hours. If you want to use other features, like continuing the conversation longer, calling a phone number, or translating a conversation in real-time with Skype Translator, you’ll need to log in or get a Skype account.
This is a great addition to the Skype service, though it’s coming incredibly late. Think about how you would share such a link: Aside from email, most of the existing options already offer you a way to chat or make a call.
In other words, while guest accounts do reduce the barrier to entry for Skype, chances are usage will be low. Nobody is going to go get a link to start a Skype call when they can just hit the call button in Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, WeChat, Line, and so on.

Problem
Consider the following scenario. A user uses an 'email as sign in' (EASI) account or a custom domain as his or her Microsoft account to sign in to Microsoft services. For example, the user uses username@contoso.com. The domain in the user's Microsoft account is the same as the domain that Microsoft Office 365 uses. In this scenario, the user tries to sign in to Skype. However, the user can't use his or her current Microsoft account to sign in to Skype. Instead, the user is forced to change his or her Microsoft account so that it uses a different domain.
Solution
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
Method 1: For Office 365 Enterprise organizations, disable PIC in the Skype for Business (formerly Lync Online) Admin Center. To do this, follow the steps on the following Microsoft website:
Method 2: For Office 365 Business organizations, disable External Communications on the Office 365 Service Settings page. To do this, follow the steps on the following Microsoft website:
Method 3: Use a different domain for your Microsoft account, or use a different domain in Office 365.
More information
This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
The user's Microsoft account uses the same domain name as Office 365.
Public IM connectivity (PIC) is enabled in Skype for Business Online for Office 365 Enterprise organizations.
External Communications is enabled in Skype for Business Online for Office 365 Business organizations. In this scenario, when the user signs in to Skype, the user is forced to change his or her Microsoft account to use a domain that isn't in conflict with Office 365.
Skype Sign In My Account
This issue occurs because of the way that the session initiation protocol (SIP) services are advertised. The Office 365 and Skype environments can coexist if PIC or External Communications is disabled for the Office 365 domain. However, if PIC or External Communications is enabled for the Office 365 domain, the Office 365 domain becomes the authoritative SIP domain and hosts the service. Therefore, when a user tries to sign in to Skype, the Microsoft account service recognizes that Office 365 controls the domain namespace and requires the user to change his or her Microsoft account to use a different domain.
